Historical File: Androids

Since the beginning of their creation, Androids have been used as tools to further human expansion into the technological age. Humans have since gradually created the perfect artificial intelligence within a machine so complex and so technologically advanced that the line between humanity and machine is blurred within their creation. At first they were used for simple actions and simple jobs. Serving the human masses while they were growing and evolving. At first the design was flawed since it looked more machine than human, but as the years passed they became more streamlined in design and the concept for a human-like machine was made into more of a reality. Years and years later, they became what they were before the new synthetic technology came into creation. They were still programmable machines, but they were closer to the dream the scientists had when first thinking them up. However, their design at the time was short lived when a man named William T. Johnson learned how to create synthetic human skin to make the design more easily camouflaged. Their design was still total machine and the programming was still flawed, but at least the casing was still good. As soon as the androids began to become better at being self-aware and their programming was more complex (which created more job opportunities for them), they were sent everywhere and made for everything.

The most scandalous one was when they were used as sex objects. Instead of organic forms, men and women were turning to androids to complete their desires. Other jobs included restaurant workers, librarians, drivers of all kinds, and maids. However, as time came to pass and the stigma against the magi rose to a roar, they androids were then used as weapons of destruction at the almost genocide of the magi race. Certain models were made to capture and kill Magi, others were made to process their bodies for the studies being done at the time. Even in war they were still seen as second class citizens. They could not have the same rights as their human counterparts had, not able to be free. Years later, their design did not change, but their level of technology did grow. They now looked more human and could pass for one should they have kept their mouths shut and their parts to themselves. Businesses and the military still used them to serve their purposes even as the use for them waned.

Years after the near genocide of the Magi race, the androids were then pulled from military service to be decommissioned due to the lack of numbers in the Magi fold. Even as they were decommissioned, the military built newer and better models to keep the magi in check as well as use for the regular folks of the cities and towns within Alterra. Present day androids are still second class citizens, but they are more advanced than their previous models. They are used in everyday businesses as well as even used in private ones.
